The conventions of a thriller genre include:

· fight and chase scenes often relates to crime
· Suspense is created via the music/soundtrack
· the films narrative is of the protagonists point of view
· builds up to a climax
· A complex narrative structure
· Themes of identity
· Suspense and tension are created
· Enigmas are created
· cliff hangers
· the protagonist faces death or a dangerous situation
· the audience is taken down the wrong path
· Sudden scares, for example jump scares
